The Innovation Report 2019 shows more negative ratings than last year

Study on innovative medicines of the year 2016 in day to day care

In the Innovation Report 2019 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Gerd Glaeske mostly negative assessments were given to the new drugs in a long-term evaluation. 14 of 23 were rated with a red and only five with a green traffic light. This is why about 35% of all medicines had been authorized within accelerated approvals due to often insufficient data, especially regarding the risk. Therefore it is more important to ensure the drug safety than to increase the profit of pharmaceutical companies. The special chapter on immunization and vaccination outlines the current discussions on measles and other vaccines. Moreover it discusses the political project of making measles vaccination compulsory. In the authors opinion this should be the last option. Read more ...
