Organisation

The SOCIUM is a central research institute of the University of Bremen and is divided into six departments.

Board of Directors

The board of directors consists of heads of department, three academic board members and a non-academic board member. The executive manager, the head of administration and the decentralized women’s representative participate in meetings in an advisory capacity. The professorial members of the board choose a director among its members for the duration of two years as well as a deputy director. The director represents the SOCIUM internally and externally, is superior of the assigned staff and shall preside over the board. Read more ...

Advisory Board

The advisory board gives support to the management as regards the setting up and implementing of the scientific program of the SOCIUM and makes recommendations. It comments on the results of the research projects. As a general rule the advisory board meets every two years. At its regular meetings and on the basis of an comprehensive report, an evaluation of the work of the SOCIUM takes place and is reported to the rector. Read more ...

Equal Opportunities at the SOCIUM

The promotion of gender equality based on and embedded in the Bremischen Hochschulgesetzes (BremHG) (Bremen legislation governing higher education), is an important part of the organization policy of the SOCIUM. The statute of the SOCIUM provides the election of the decentralized women's representatives which supports the SOCIUM management in this work. The decentralized women’s representatives advise, support and inform all academic staff of the SOCIUM as regards questions on the equality of gender in research and teaching. Read more ...
