The thematic focus of the working group lies at the interface between work and private life, the dynamics of life course trajectories of men and women in different family and household constellations, as well as the consequences for the wellbeing of individuals and families. Being one of the centers that run the German Family Panel (pairfam), family development in the life course is another important focus of the research group, examining systematic and patterned changes experienced by families as they move through their life course. Finally, research on formation and diffusion of family policy in a global perspective is conducted within the framework of Collaborative Research Center 1342 at the University of Bremen.

Current research topics:

  • Employment dynamics over the life course

  • Social inequality and family development

  • Quality of life, quality of work, and well-being

  • Family policy

  • Social inequality and gender
