Social Cohesion within and between social milieus
The project aims (1) to develop a typology of milieu-specific forms and practices of social cohesion within social milieus and (2) to shed light on social cohesion on the macro-level via the relationships between different social milieus. Social milieus are defined as social groups that differ in their socio-economic living conditions as well as their cultural values, attitudes, and their conduct-of-life. The concept of "milieus" connects vertial inequalities with cultural differences and is thus particularly suited to investige the interference between distributive and value conflicts.
