Dr. Felix Oyosoro joined the Collaborative Research Centre (SFB 1342) “Global Dynamics of Social Policy” at the University of Bremen as a Postdoctoral Researcher in April 2026. He is part of Project B13, “Welfare States and Protest: Understanding the Contentious Outcomes of Social Policy in Africa.” Prior to this, he served as Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Security Studies and Head of the Department of History and International Relations at Veritas University, Abuja (2021–2024), and as Visiting Lecturer at the École Nationale Supérieure des Armées in Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin (2021–2024). Between 2015 and 2021, he held academic positions at Obong University, Nigeria, where he also served as Head of the Department of International Relations.

Dr. Oyosoro received his PhD in Strategic Studies (summa cum laude) from the University of Calabar in 2020. He also holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Yaoundé II and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Philosophy from the Catholic University of Central Africa. His doctoral research examined the performance of research and development within Nigeria’s military-industrial complex, with a focus on the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria.

His research and publications are situated at the intersection of international relations theory, security studies, and African politics. He has published on topics including foreign military basing in Africa, protest movements and political violence, securitization, and the role of non-state actors in security governance. His current research engages questions of statehood, social policy, and contentious politics in Africa, with particular attention to the evolving relationship between welfare provision and protest dynamics.

He has also been actively involved in international academic networks, conference organization, and collaborative research projects on African security and global political order.
